Dark surfaces have always been any 3D scanner's pet peeve, except perhaps for $20K (and above) laser 3D scanners. It is hard for a 3D scanner or photogrammetry algorithm to determine features on a dark surface; everything is basically a shadow for the algorithm.
If you need to 3D scan a dark-colored object, you can try using adhesive markers – they look a little bit like targets – or applying white chalk to the surface. You can get creative here; some users have even used sticky notes!
