Introduction

Using Featureless Object Scan

If you tried scanning a 'simple object' with any other 3D scanner app, chances are the results came out to be inadaquate and unsuable. This is because most 3D scanner apps use a technique called photogrammetry, which is impossible to scan shiny/reflective/transparent surfaces, or objects of simple colors.

We developed Featureless Object Scan to combat this limitation. This is a technique that uses a powerful neural network algorithm to scan objects into 3D meshes, even if they're simple objects like those of single colors or of shiny surfaces.

To use this scanning method:

  • Start capturing the object by recording a video around the object from three different heights: top, middle, and lower.
  • Make sure the object is free of movement during the capture.
  • Frame the entire object throughout the capture, any close-ups may potentially confuse the algorithm.

We're sure that after a few tries you'll get fantastic results with this scanning method, happy scanning!
